Welcome to Piano Island Festival 5th Edition
Piano Island Management Pte. Ltd. is proud to present to you our 5th International Piano Island Festival this December 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The festival dates are from 2nd December 2022 to 11th December 2022.
At Piano Island Festival, our mission is to create an international platform for developing talented pianists. Bringing world class pianists to perform, teach and share their experience. To create a learning space for top level young pianists from all over the world to be inspired by world renowned piano professors. Through our festivals, we hope to build lifelong friendships and bonds with our students, and teachers - connecting people with the same interests and goals.
This will be facilitated by our intensive festival program, where we will conduct numerous masterclasses, lectures, ice-breaking games, and a specialised tour itinerary to fit the interests of the whole group. Accompanying family members of participants are also encouraged to join the tour.
Our Piano Festival features 4 main events: Masterclasses, Concerts, Lectures and International Competition.
Masterclasses
The masterclasses are catered to professional level students, pianists at the start of their careers, as well as motivated young pianists. Scholarships could be offered to exceptional students experiencing financial difficulties after a thorough screening, based on participant's background and resume.
Enrolments are accepted by order of application. Students are not obliged to participate in the festival competition
Students will be distributed among the teachers, taking into consideration their preference and the works they will be playing, as indicated on the enrolment form, although subject to availability.
All participants will receive a course certificate.
Concerts
All invited faculty members of Piano Island Festival 5th Edition will be playing a solo recital during the festival period. (subject to changes). Through these concerts, festival participants will be able to enjoy live piano recitals by our faculty.
Festival Participants will also have a chance to be part of our students' concert. (subject to package category and recommendation by faculty). Students' concert will be towards the end of the festival, before closing concert.
Our key events for concerts will be Opening Concert (featuring faculty members, Faculty Concerts, Students' Concert, and Closing Concert (featuring prize winners of competition: Infantile, Youth, and Professional, featuring faculty members)
Lectures
Lectures will be conducted by selected faculty members. Lecture topics will include: Tips on How to be successful at competitions and exams, Secrets to Effective Sight ReadingHow to Write a Song, Improvisation as a Practicing Strategy, How to do effective practicing, Understanding and Interpreting French Music, and many more. These lectures are priceless knowledge shared by our invited guest professors and are not to be missed!
Competition
Competition will be divided into 3 categories: Infantile (10 and under), Youth (11 - 17), and Professional (18 - 35).
Cash rewards and numerous scholarships will be awarded for all top 3 prize winners of each category; special prizes including concerts, artist development/management and recording prize. The Grand Prize winner of the competition will receive a scholarship package with accommodation and air tickets included as a festival participant, jury member, and faculty for Piano Island Festival 6th Edition. Application Procedure
The application has to be made via our online form. Click here to Apply now. Applications for festival participants and competitors will be open from 30th May 2022 and will close 30th October 2022.
Please indicate type of participation (festival participation or competition entry only), hotel stay booking preference, proposed repertoire for masterclasses and/or competition on our online form.
Once application has been received, Piano Island Management will go through the application and approve applications on a first come first serve basis. Festival participant application approvals will be based on the skill level of participant, type of package chosen, availability; and hotel and tour bookings. Competition only applications will only be approved at a later date by 1st November 2022. As we have limited spots for festival participants, festival participants are encouraged to apply early in order to avoid disappointment.
When we approve festival participation applications, we will send out invitations accordingly via email for invitation to confirm your participation. This will be sent together with an invoice for payment of participation fees, any accompanying family observer fees, as well as any optional hotel and tour fees.
If you have financial difficulties, and would like to apply for our festival as a participant, you will need to apply first and indicate that you will like to apply for scholarship to our festival. Proof of financial status of parents and applicant will need to be provided, as well as any supporting documents that show financial hardship that applicant is facing. Please ensure all documentations are verified by either a JP (Justice of the Peace), doctor, police, or government official. Please ensure if documents are not in English, that documents have to be translated to English by a licensed translator and verified accordingly as required. Scholarships will be awarded based on skill level and number of normal paying participants.

Fees & Cancelation
Application fees for festival participant and competition only will be SGD $150. This application fee is strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
For festival participation fees, please refer to the table above.
Festival participation fees are fully 100% refundable in the case of force majeure (e.g. closure of Malaysia borders, world war, natural disasters, etc). Book with a peace of mind.
Payment
Registration fees will be processed securely online through our website upon submission of the online application form. Do take note of a 5% transaction fee via Mastercard and Visa payments.
For festival participation fees and any other hotel or tour payments, 5% service charges will be charged via Mastercard and Visa payments securely online. An option for bank transfer will also be provided to the participant should the participant wish to pay via bank transfer. Bank transferal charges are not included in the participant fee and are the sole responsibility of the participants.
Deadline
Registration dateline 30th of October 2022 - All application materials and down-payments must be received before the deadline date.
